Michiyo Tsujimura and her colleague Seitaro Miura discovered that green tea was a natural source of vitamin C.
Their research contributed to a noted increase in the amount of green tea being exported to North America.
Following her examination vocation, Tsujimura turned into a teacher of Ochanomizu University and later at Tokyo Women's Higher Normal School, ultimately turning into the school's first dignitary of the Faculty of Home Economics. Michiyu Tsujimura passed on June 1, 1969, at 80 years old, and in Okegawa today, there is a stone commemoration to her and her numerous achievements.
